Placement Reality: Why Hands-On Skills Beat Bookish Knowledge

This Article is From 27 Feb 2026

In the current job market, having a B.Tech degree is no longer a differentiator. Every year, thousands of mechanical and automobile engineers graduate in Gujarat. They all have the same textbooks, the same exams, and similar grades.

Yet, when placement season arrives, some students struggle to find a ₹15,000 job, while others secure packages of ₹8 Lacs per annum.

What makes the difference? It isn't the college name. It isn't the CGPA. It is Hands-On Competence.

While traditional colleges focus on theory, the industry is desperate for engineers who can actually work. This is why students from a dedicated automobile training centre like iACE are cracking interviews that "toppers" often fail.

1. The "Paper Engineer" vs. The "Industry Engineer"

Recruiters today have a specific term for fresh graduates: "Paper Engineers." These are students who can write the formula for torque but cannot use a torque wrench.

At iACE, we flip this model. Our students spend 70% of their time in labs and only 30% in classrooms. This approach has delivered results. In the 2026 PGP Placement process, out of 100 students, 63 have already been placed, with the process still ongoing. These aren't just random jobs; they are core engineering roles.

  • Top Salary: One of our students secured a massive ₹8 LPA package at Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL).

  • Average Growth: Companies like Setco Auto Systems (₹4.5 LPA) and Presswell (₹4.2 LPA) are aggressively hiring our graduates because they don't need to be trained, they are ready from Day 1.

2. Real Internships, Not Just Certificates

A major flaw in the traditional system is the "Summer Internship." For many, this is just a formality where they stand and watch.

In contrast, iACE provides internships that serve as a direct pipeline to employment. Our students are currently interning at premium locations like BMW Gallops (Nagpur)Landmark Mercedes, and Rane Steering Systems. They aren't fetching coffee; they are working on vehicles. This exposure is why companies like Raicam Automotive and Topre India have become our repeat recruiters.

3. Why a "Master's Degree" Isn't Always the Answer

When students fail to get a job, their default reaction is often to enroll in a pg mechanical course or an m tech in automobile.

While these degrees are valuable for research, they often double down on theory. If you didn't learn how to diagnose an engine in your Bachelor's, a Master's degree rarely fixes that gap.

iACE’s Post Graduate Program (PGP) is different. It acts as a finishing school. It bridges the gap between "Academic Knowledge" and "Industrial Application."

4. The Recruiter's Perspective

Why do companies like SonalikaLGN, and Plastic Omnium come to iACE? Because they save money. When they hire a fresher from a generic college, they spend 6 months training them. When they hire an iACE student, the student is productive from the first week. We align our roles with industry needs, offering clear pathways from training to internship to full-time placement.

Be The Candidate They Can't Ignore

The resume gets you to the door. Your skills get you the chair.

Don't settle for being just another graduate with a degree. Become an engineer with a portfolio of skills.

Whether it is working on a Mercedes-Benz engine or managing production at a Tier-1 supplier, the opportunities are real, if you have the hands to grab them.

Get Skilled. Get Hired.
